Whenever there is a problem with plumbing, it is natural to say “call the plumber”; however, there are many different types of plumbers. Some plumbers may specialize in new commercial pipe installation, some may specialize in residential appliances, and some may specialize in service calls. While the average plumber may carry a basic cable machine such as the trusted K-50 snake, which is an excellent light to medium-duty machine for small applications, they are not equipped to deal with more complex and serious issues. Here is where the drain cleaner enters the conversation.
At B&P Environmental, our drain cleaning service trucks will come stocked with an extensive array of equipment to deal with any potential issue. Each truck comes equipped with various hydrojetting machines, cable snaking machines, sewer inspection cameras, and flex shaft machines. B&P’s drain cleaner technicians are fully equipped to inspect and clear or resolve any drain related issue, including:
- Sanitary sewers
- Stormwater issues
- Commercial property
- Residential property
Our team is ready to show you why our drain cleaning services are better than your average plumber. Some of the tools that our B&P Environmental team uses include:
Cable Snake Machines
A plumber’s snake or drain snake is a slender, flexible auger used to dislodge clogs in plumbing. Snakes can come in short sections (sectional machines), or long cables wound up inside drums (drum machines). Snakes are greased for navigating plumbing traps for floor drains, working indoors where a trailer hydrojet cannot reach, and punching holes through stubborn clogs to alleviate a plumbing flooding issue.
A hydrojet machine shoots high-pressure water through a long hose and a specialized nozzle that is fed through sewer pipes to pressure wash or hydrojet the inside of the pipe walls to break up grease, scale, roots, or other obstructions and to flush any and all debris through the system and away from the property.
B&P is able to hydrojet pipes from as small as 1 ½ inch up to 48 inches in diameter. It is all about using the proper machine and the proper hydrojet head. Hydrojetting is extremely efficient at breaking up obstructions/accumulations and flushing them out of the system but cannot always be used. For example, many applications do not allow a truck or trailer to be close enough, which is when other methods need to be used. This is when other strategies come into play.
Often, with plumbing issues, it is essential to know what the issue is. Our drain cleaners have a wide variety of sewer inspection cameras that can be pushed down pipes or in some cases, even driven on small tractors/cars down larger pipes. These sewer cameras can be used to inspect pipe conditions, locate any areas of concern, and work with other machines to resolve the problems. Our cameras can go from 2-inch lines up to systems 6 feet in diameter.
Flex shaft machines are relatively new to the market. These machines utilize powerful chain knockers that spin and expand to the size of the pipe to quickly clear the entire circumference. The machines work in the same pipe with a sewer camera to pinpoint areas that need cleaning for an extremely precise drain services while at the same time performing visual sewer inspections.
